Does your room show RU pride? Does your room express who you are? Does your room show creative use of space? We want to know!

Official Rules and Details
- Timeline

- Submit an entry form, where you will upload up to 3 of your best room photo(s). Submissions are due by 11:59 p.m. on November 4th, 2024. Photo submissions become the property of Rutgers University–New Brunswick Department of Residence Life upon receipt.
- Judges will select award finalists, taking into consideration judging criteria (see Judging subsection below).
- Finalists will be contacted by email between November 18th-26th, 2024 and arrangements will be made to have an official photo/video taken of winning rooms.
- Finalists will schedule a room photo shoot with photographers at a time between December 2-6.
- Room photos of eight submission finalists (2 from each campus) will be posted to the Rutgers Residence Life social media platforms.
- A committee of residence life staff will vote on the Grand Prize Winner.
- Grand Prize Winning Room will be announced on December 13th, 2024.
- Qualifications
- You must be a current Rutgers University-New Brunswick student living in the residence halls, with a contract in good standing, to enter the contest.
- Permission from each roommate assigned to the bedroom in the photos is needed for participation.
- Only one entry per bedroom. Individual bedrooms in suites and apartments are treated as separate. Only bedrooms will be judged in apartments and suites with shared rooms.
- Rutgers Residence Life employees are not eligible to participate.
- Late entries will not be accepted. Limit one entry per person for every one bedroom. In the event there are two submissions for a room, the second entry will be disqualified.
- Judging Criteria
- Rooms will be judged based on creativity, use of color, use of space, school spirit, theme, organization, and overall design. Eight finalists will win one of eight swag bags with items filled from Ikea Elizabeth and Residence Life. One grand prize winner will win $200 Kite and Key gift card and 4 free movie tickets and bucket of assorted candies from Rutgers Cinema.
- Any entries deemed inappropriate or that depict policy violations will be disqualified. Rooms with tapestries are deemed as fire safety violations and WILL NOT be accepted. The use of obscene or offensive materials or pornography within the photos will result in disqualification.
- All entries must comply with both University and Residential Life Code of Conduct and policies. If policies are violated, disqualification and disciplinary action will be taken.
- Conduct Guidelines
- Residents are strongly encouraged to review the policies outlines in the Rutgers University— New Brunswick Housing Terms and Conditions, Residence Hall Guidelines, and the University Code of Conduct. Contest submissions will be reviewed by the Office of Student Conduct for Residence Life. Residents shall be subject to disciplinary action if prohibited items are found in the contest submission.
- Things for residents to keep I mind:
- Painting and wallpapering living spaces are considered vandalism
- Residents should review the Fire Safety and Prohibited Items for the full list of items not allowed on campus
- Residents must not possess unauthorized furniture (i.e Lounge Furniture)
- Photo Release Consent
- By entering this contest, you give Rutgers University–New Brunswick permission to use your photos for promotional purposes.
- By entering the contest, participants agree to the use of the submitted photographs and name to be used by Rutgers University Residence Life in electronic and print publications.
- Participants give permission for any images taken during this process to be used indefinitely on Rutgers University–New Brunswick, Residence Life’s website, social media accounts, and in Residence Life marketing materials for the purpose of providing visual examples of residence hall rooms. Upon submission, participants indicate that they understand that images posted online may be viewed by anyone. Residence Life will not reveal the full names of the room owners or room numbers in order to protect the privacy of our students (First name and last initial only).

- No purchase or payment necessary to win.
- Prizes are subject to Federal tax law and may require completion of appropriate tax forms.
- This contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, or Amazon.
- Claiming Prizes
- If you are one of the first 80 people (only the first 20 submissions per each campus) to submit to the contest, then you will be contacted to arrange a time to pick up your Rutgers Cinema gift card
- Swag bags with $10 Amazon gift card will be awarded on day of scheduled photography.
- Grand prize winner must respond to the winning notification email within one week of its receipt and provide a valid Rutgers University email address to prove they are eligible and able to receive instructions on claiming their prize.
- Unclaimed prizes will be forfeited after 30 days from initial notification.
- To win, you must be currently enrolled as a student living on campus.
- Winners must consent to professional room photography and videography and posted on Rutgers–New Brunswick Residence Life social media channels and website. Failure to comply will result in the forfeiting of the associated prize.
- Winners must be prepared to schedule a room photo shoot with photographers during the week of December 2nd-6th. Should the above guidelines not be met, Rutgers–New Brunswick Residence Life has the right to disqualify an entry and choose an alternate winner.
