Intern Housing

Many companies contribute to the community by offering summer internships to college students. We understand the importance of these internships, which provide a unique and valuable opportunity to “learn while doing”. Living in an academic environment can further enhance the impact of this learning experience. Rutgers University – surrounded by countless progressive, technical, pharmaceutical, and service industries – is an ideal provider of this special service.

Accommodations

The YardThe Sojourner Truth Apartments on the College Avenue Campus are the perfect summer residence for interns. Each air-cooled apartment is fully furnished and has up to four single-occupancy bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room, and a kitchen. It is also just a short walk from the New Brunswick train station. On-site staffing is provided by Rutgers Residence Life to provide support throughout the summer. All interns must be students over the age of 18 and enrolled at a recognized college or university.

Note to our Corporate Partners

If you would like to house your interns at Rutgers as a group and cover all costs, please have an appointed representative from your company email us no later than March 15th at ucs@echo.rutgers.edu. An intern housing contract will be generated that guarantees your interns will be assigned together and not sharing with another company’s interns, and you will receive one invoice covering the costs for all your interns. Alternate campus locations may also be possible.
If you prefer for your interns to contract for housing on their own, you can “opt in” to act as a corporate intern sponsor by completing a simple application and providing proof of internship for each student. The sponsor application is available here.

Note to Interns

If you are ready to sign up for your summer intern housing directly, please confirm with your internship supervisor that your company has “opted in” to act as a sponsor for their summer interns. Each company must complete a simple sponsorship application and agree to provide proof of internship for each student, regardless of whether they are providing financial support to cover the cost of the housing. You do not need to be a Rutgers student to apply for intern housing. Once your company has opted in, you will be able to complete the individual intern housing application by following the link below:
