Living-Learning Community (LLC) Application Information 2026-2027 for Current Rutgers Students Only
Available LLCs for continuing students (current Rutgers) are as follows:
- Asian American Identities and Images LLC NEW (for new members of this LLC who have NOT taken the AAII seminar).
- Asian American Identities and Images LLC RETURNER – Community Ambassador Program (for returning members to this community who have already taken the AAII Seminar)
- Latin Images NEW – (for new members of this LLC who have not taken the Latin Images seminar)
- Latin Images RETURNER – Community Ambassador Program (for returning members to this community who have already taken the LI seminar)
- Paul Robeson LLC NEW – (for new members of this LLC who have not taken Introduction to Africana Studies)
- Paul Robeson LLC RETURNER – Community Ambassador Program (for returning members to Paul Robeson OR those who are new to Paul Robeson but have already taken Intro to Africana Studies)
By submitting this application, you are confirming your interest in joining one of the LLCs listed below.
If you are accepted:
- You will be assigned LLC housing.
- You will be removed from the general housing selection process and cannot select housing elsewhere.
Your application will be reviewed for the following:
- Minimum GPA of 2.0
- No open conduct cases with the Office of Student Conduct
- Positive community contribution
- For current LLC residents: Active participation in your LLC. Residents who have attended at least 3 LLC events in the fall are preferred.
- For Community Ambassador Programs (Asian American Identities & Images, Paul Robeson, and Latin Images): A well-written essay answering the application prompt

Additional Consideration
We have a fixed number of spaces available. To allow new students to participate, we will consider first time LLC members prior to returning members.
Application Steps
STEP 1:
Complete the application here by Sunday, January 18, 2026, at 11:59 PM.
- If you don’t have a roommate in mind, one may be assigned to you. If you do, both you and your preferred roommate must:
- Complete separate applications
- List each other as roommates
- Include each other’s name and RUID
- Returning members: Be honest with yourself and/or your potential roommate about your LLC involvement—current active participation is necessary to be considered. Residents who have attended at least 3 LLC events in the fall are preferred.
STEP 2:
Mark your calendar for Tuesday, January 27, 2026.
That’s when we’ll begin sending out acceptance notifications.
You must accept or decline by Thursday, January 29, 2026.
If you don’t respond in time, your space may be offered to another student.
STEP 3:
Review current housing rates (note: these will change for the upcoming year).
Complete your housing selection application once the Assignments Office releases the date. View the current housing rates and be advised they will be adjusted for the next academic year.
STEP 4:
LLC staff will review all applications for GPA, conduct, participation (for returners), community contribution per LLC student staff, and essay quality.
STEP 5:
Check your email starting Tuesday, January 27, 2026 for your LLC decision.
You will be notified whether you are accepted, declined.
STEP 6:
Accept or decline your offer by Thursday, January 29, 2026, at 9:00 AM using the Qualtrics form in the email you provided us.
If you accept:
- Your information will be shared with the Assignments Office.
- You will be removed from the housing pool and assigned LLC housing. This is a binding agreement.
First-Year Student Application Process for 2025-2026
- Take your placement test ASAP if you’re interested in the Business & Economics or Health & Medicine LLC
- These require Math and English placement scores
- It is recommended that students place into 01:355:101 College Writing or 01:355:104 College Writing Extended.
- If you have APed out of the courses related to the LLC of your choice, this opportunity is likely not the best fit for you as you will not take the courses affiliated with the LLC.
- Review the requirements and eligibility sections before you apply for an LLC Community!!
- Housing application can be found at oncampus.rutgers.edu
- Once you reach the Living-Learning Communities page on the housing application, use the drop-down box to select a living-learning community based on an interest area you would like to explore.
- Remember:
- You must live in the designated residence hall
- You must take the associated course(s) in order to participate in our LLCs.
- If you want to live with a specific person, they must also complete the housing application and supplemental application if applicable.
- Provide an email that you can access after graduation from your previous institution.
- The Health and Medicine LLC requires a supplemental application
- The Entrepreneurship and Innovation LLC requires a supplemental application
- We will notify you via email whether your application has been accepted or declined after reviewing testing placement scores (if applicable) and review your housing and supplemental application (if applicable)
- Accepted Application:
- You will be automatically enrolled into the LLC if there is a COMPLETED housing application on file with an acceptance email directly to the email you listed on your housing application
- If you wish to no longer participate, it is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to immediately respond to our email and make us aware of your wish to decline the LLC
- Declined Application:
- You will be provided an opportunity to apply for a different LLC if space and time allow if your application is declined
- The earlier you apply, the sooner we can notify you!
- Sign up for New Student Orientation (NSO) as soon as it’s available!
- At your NSO session, you will be provided with a special permission number to register yourself for a specific section of the respective course(s) OR have your advisor register you. All dependent on your school (i.e. SAS, SEBS, RBS, etc.).

By submitting this application, you acknowledge your desire to participate in one of the LLCs listed below. If you are accepted to the LLC, you will be assigned LLC housing and you will be removed from the housing selection process. You will not be able to select housing elsewhere.
