Katzenbach Hall, Douglass Campus

“I am a student recruiter for Douglass Residential College (DRC), the RHA President of Katzenbach, and I am a part of the First-Year Fellowship through leadership development. I’ll be going on an Alternative Spring Break this year to Washington, D.C. to help with hunger and homelessness. I love leadership because it helps you grow as a person and build better character. I was always very shy in high school and I never thought I’d be doing any of the things I’m doing now.

At the beginning of the year I didn’t even think I was going to run for hall president or be a student recruiter for DRC. That was not something I’d ever done, but I just wanted to get out of my comfort zone. Going to Camp Unite and doing things through the leadership department helped me build confidence in myself. I’m incredibly proud of the small accomplishments of my hall executive board, especially when we put on events that people really love. Being at Rutgers University has given me an opportunity to come into my own and become that leader I never thought I could be.”

A native of Barnegat, N.J., Sam is a first year student currently residing in Katzenbach Hall on Douglass Campus. She is undecided on a major, but has a passion for leadership.
