Every Rutgers student’s journey looks different, and your community should reflect that. In living-learning communities (LLCs) you live alongside peers who share your goals and passions, take courses together, and build meaningful connections with mentors and faculty. Whether you’re interested in health, culture, leadership, business, or innovation, there’s an LLC to help you grow personally and academically.
Living-Learning Communities Overview:

- Asian American Identities and Images
All class years. Aims to enhance students’ knowledge of the diverse lived experiences of Asian Americans and other peoples of Asian descent in the United States. Members engage in leadership opportunities that foster growth while building meaningful connections with peers, faculty, and staff. All students are welcome, regardless of background.

- Business and Economics Discovery House
First-years only. Connects students who are passionate about business, economics, and related fields to explore real world application of these disciplines while receiving focused academic and career advising.

- Entrepreneurship and Innovation
First-years and transfers only. Designed for bold thinkers and problem solvers eager to explore creativity, innovation, and an entrepreneurial mindset. This LLC aims to turn imagination into action and innovation into opportunity.

- Health and Medicine
First-years only. A supportive community for first-year students on health and medical paths, combining shared courses with personalized academic guidance. It’s designed for students eager to build a strong foundation for medical school and a successful transition into college life.

- Latin Images
All class years. Celebrates the rich histories and cultures of Latinx, Latin American, and Caribbean peoples in the US. Students engage in educational, cultural, and social experiences that promote connection and understanding. All students are welcome, regardless of background.

- Law and Political Science Discovery House
First-years only. Allows students to explore academic and non-academic opportunities in political science by offering resources, skill-building opportunities, and a supportive network to help them succeed academically and professionally.

- Leadership
First-years and transfers only. Offers students a dynamic space to explore personal leadership styles, develop their own presence, and think critically about leadership today. Members gain access to diverse leaders who share crucial insights from fields like fashion, finance, media, medicine, politics, etc.

- Paul Robeson (African Diaspora)
All class years. Founded in honor of the legendary Paul Robeson, this community supports first-year, transfer, and continuing students in their academic and personal growth. Members focus on cultural enrichment, community engagement, and exploring the impact of the African Diaspora. All students are welcome, regardless of background.

- Psychology Discovery House
Connects first-year students with shared academic and residential experiences, fostering friendships and peer support. Members receive guidance from residence life staff and engage in programs that deepen their interest in psychology while easing the transition to Rutgers.

- School of Arts and Sciences Educational Opportunity Fund (SAS EOF)
First-years only. Provides a supportive environment for SAS EOF students to connect with peers from similar backgrounds and experiences. With mentorship and resources built into the program, students find belonging, encouragement and accountability as they navigate college life.

- Thematic Communities
Thematic communities allow students with specific academic, personal, or professional interests to live amongst one another. These housing options have often been viewed by students as one of the most pleasant and satisfying experiences at the University.
- Residential College
Residential Colleges at Rutgers offer students a close-knit academic community. Each of these communities offers themed housing, specialized courses, and mentorship opportunities that connect students’ academic and personal interests with their residential experience.
