Overview

Woodbury Bunting-Cobb Hall is a traditional residence hall built in 1959. Mary Putnam Woodbury, Dean of Douglass College (1934–1955), was a distinguished scholar, educator, and advocate for women's higher education. She expanded academic programs and fostered leadership opportunities, shaping the college as a leader in women’s education. Jewel Plummer Cobb, Dean of Douglass College (1976–1981), was a pioneering biologist, cancer researcher, and academic leader dedicated to advancing diversity in STEM and higher education. As the first black Dean of Douglass, she championed women in STEM, enhancing academic programs and supporting underrepresented students, laying a foundation for equity in education. WBC is home to Douglass Residential College’s Sciences Living Learning Community.
