Rutgers University consists of five distinct campuses spread across 2,800 acres on both sides of the Raritan River in New Brunswick and Piscataway, New Jersey. Each campus has its own unique personality, and is a self-contained conference site with its own housing accommodations, dining hall, and classrooms. Numerous conferences, academic programs, seminars and workshops utilize our services between June 1st and mid-August.
Who are we?
Rutgers Conference Services was established in 1979 as a separate operating department within the Division of Housing. In 2011 we joined the Rutgers Student Affairs Department of Residence Life. Our mission is to utilize idle university facilities — student housing, student dining halls, student classrooms — during the summer months in an effective and efficient manner that benefits the university community and its students.
Each summer various university and non-profit organizations hold summer conferences that are consistent with Rutgers’ fundamental mission of teaching, research, and public service. Rutgers Conference Services serves as liaison between the organizations and university service providers.
Our professional and detail-oriented staff facilitate most of the logistical arrangements associated with the conference, allowing our clients to concentrate on the most important part of the gathering, the program and its participants.

When choosing a location for your conference, consider that Rutgers is made up of five campuses — within a 10 mile radius of each other — linked by a free, campus bus system. Each campus is a self-contained conference site with its own housing accommodations, dining hall, and meeting space.
Accessible by plane, train, and bus
All routes, it seems, lead to Rutgers. The university is only forty-five minutes from Newark International Airport; New Jersey Transit trains stop in downtown New Brunswick while serving New York, Newark, Trenton, Atlantic City and Princeton; bus service runs frequently from New Brunswick to New York and Atlantic City.
The busy College Avenue Campus in New Brunswick is the historic heart of Rutgers. The campus is close to downtown restaurants, the New Brunswick Cultural Center and direct train service to New York City and Philadelphia.
The picturesque Douglass Campus in New Brunswick is also the site of Rutgers’ Mason Gross School of the Arts Performing Arts Complex. The tree-lined campus has a private, secluded feeling during warm, hazy summer days.
Also located in New Brunswick, the Cook Campus, with its farm animals and long, sloping view of Passion Puddle, possesses a rural atmosphere. The Cook Campus Student Center was designed to take advantage of views of the surrounding woods.
The Busch Campus located in suburban Piscataway, NJ is the site of Rutgers’ modern science and high-technology buildings as well as many of the athletic facilities. The University Golf Course and Football Stadium are located here.
The Livingston Campus, also located in Piscataway, is the site of some of our newest facilities, including the Rutgers Business School and contemporary apartment buildings. It is also the location of the Rutgers Athletic Center.
From our Central New Jersey campuses you’re just minutes away from beautiful country parks, great shopping and historic sites. Thomas Edison invented the lightbulb just minutes away in Edison, New Jersey. You’re an hour’s drive to Sandy Hook and forty-five minutes to a ferry boat ride to the Statue of Liberty.
Rutgers is located in the “Gateway Region” of the Garden State, and as you may know, more than 12 million people entered the United States through the region’s “Gateway To Freedom” at Liberty State Park in Jersey City.
