Due to COVID-19, we have removed the residential requirement, and have instead moved our learning communities online.

Students in this vibrant, fun, and engaging environment are exposed to French language and culture through events and activities. If you are interested in learning about French language and culture through a unique experience, then this learning community is for you! This community can also help prepare students for study abroad.
Programming in the past has included:
  • A trip to Princeton University for theatrical presentation of La Comedie-Française.
  • French Movie Night: “Ne le dis à Personne”
  • Attending a performance of Cyrano de Bergerac at the Philip J. Levin Theater
  • Participation in French Club Meetings and activities
  • Game nights, informal dinners,  lunches, and gatherings etc
  • Open to all class years and all majors, including transfer students
  • Students must have completed one year of college French or the attainment of the equivalent level on the placement exam
  • Must place into Basic Composition or higher for English testing
  • For current students:  If you are enrolled in 01:420:121 or 01:420:102 and above you are eligible.
  • The course component is still being determined for fall 2020. Normally, LLC members take a 1.5 credit course (taken in fall and spring for total of 3 credits). Academic deans will enroll incoming first-year students into the course.  Incoming transfers will receive a special permission number to enroll themselves in the course.  If a course is not offered in fall 2020, we will solely offer the programming/events related to the French Language and Culture theme, as well as design opportunities for students to connect with one another, creating lasting friendships.
LLC Orientation
Make Rutgers home! We’d like you to begin to connect with students, faculty, and staff even before the start of classes. LLC orientation is currently scheduled to occur virtually on Wednesday, August 26, 2020 (including an introduction to the LLC staff, a meet-and-greet with your staff/faculty partners, and a campus social).
