Rutgers University provides a variety of special living options including:
- Living-learning communities
- A residential college
- Special Interest Sections
- Cooperative Living
- Recovery Housing
These residential experiences create a strong sense of community based on similar interests and goals. The programs provide opportunities for students to work together and share experiences based on areas of academic interest, co-curricular activities, or even shared coursework. This helps to bring students and faculty together and creates academic and social support networks.
Students indicate these communities provide a small family-like experience and helps with their transition to college. Assessment shows that students are typically more satisfied with residential experience when residing in one of our special living options. If you are interested in a special living option, including an all women’s or quiet community, be sure to indicate it on your on-line housing agreement.
